Potential EUDR Delay and Release of Guidance Document and updated FAQs
The European Commission has recently announced that it has proposed to delay the EUDR’s implementation by 12 months, enabling all stakeholders a phasing-in period to facilitate its implementation and compliance requirements.
Once approved by the European Parliament and the European Council, the new regulation implementation deadline will now be on 30 December 2025 for operators and traders, and 30 June 2026 for EU SMEs.
The European Commission has also released its Guidance Documents, which contains additional references for impacted stakeholders to implement the EUDR requirements. This includes clarifications on the deforestation-related definitions, as well as additional details on the roles of its Information System, certification systems and traceability obligations.
The Guidance Document can be downloaded here: Guidance on EU Deforestation Regulation – European Commission (europa.eu)
In addition to the Guidance Document, the European Commission has also finally released its updated Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), which now include an additional 40 new questions for a better understanding of the EUDR requirements.
