MPOC Showcases Robotics and Sustainable Practices in Malaysian Palm Oil at the 3rd International Food Research Conference

The Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) successfully participated in the 3rd International Food Research Conference (IFRC) 2024, organised by Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). This initiative was strategically designed to enhance international recognition and acceptance of Malaysian sustainable palm oil, with a focus on promoting automation and mechanisation in oil palm plantations as a key component of the industry’s sustainability efforts.

MPOC’s invited speaker, En Abdullah Zawawi Mohamed from SD Guthrie Berhad, delivered a presentation titled “Reimagining Plantation through AI and Robotics,” highlighting the integration of robotics, AI, and other advanced technologies, demonstrating the industry’s commitment to innovation. His insights perfectly complemented the conference’s theme, “Sustainable Food Industry through Science, Technology, and Innovation”. The session was well-received by approximately 200 international delegates, who showed interest in further discussions after the talk.

In addition to the presentation, MPOC showcased the latest palm-based wellness products at a dedicated exhibition booth, further underscoring the importance of innovation. The event successfully enhanced the image of Malaysian palm oil. The MPOC interactive lunch talk and its presence at the exhibition booth created meaningful engagement with stakeholders, resulting in a positive perception of Malaysian palm oil among international delegates.
