KUALA LUMPUR, 9 Oct 2026 — The Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) successfully concluded its BizMatch session at the Malaysian Palm Oil Forum Kuala Lumpur 2026 (MPOF KL 2026), generating RM573 million in potential sales through business engagements between 109 international buyers and 31 Malaysian palm oil suppliers.
Held on 8 October 2026 at Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur, BizMatch brought together buyers from Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia Pacific, North Africa, the Middle East and the Balkans, with the largest representation coming from Africa. More than 400 structured business meetings were conducted, reflecting strong interest from both international buyers and Malaysian suppliers in developing new trade relationships.
Commenting on the outcome, MPOC Chief Executive Officer Ms. Belvinder Sron said BizMatch has become one of the most sought-after components of MPOF week, providing a direct link between industry engagement and commercial opportunities.
“BizMatch is where many of the connections established during MPOF translate into meaningful business discussions. This year’s participation and the RM573 million in potential sales demonstrate the value of bringing international buyers directly to Malaysia and connecting them with our suppliers,” said Ms. Belvinder.
She noted that the strong participation from Africa was particularly encouraging, given the region’s growing importance to Malaysian palm oil exports.
“Sub-Saharan Africa has emerged as the largest importing region for Malaysian palm oil, with imports reaching 4.1 million tonnes in 2025, an increase of 12% over the previous year. This momentum has continued in 2026, with exports to the region increasing by 10% in the first eight months. Africa remains a priority in MPOC’s market development strategy, and programmes such as BizMatch help us build on these established trade relationships while reaching new buyers and markets,” she added.
Business discussions covered opportunities across a broad range of Malaysian palm oil and palm-based products, from bulk palm oil to downstream products and higher-value derivatives for food and non-food applications.
BizMatch formed part of MPOC’s flagship Trade & Networking Visit (TNV) programme, which brought international delegates from 26 countries to Malaysia. As part of the programme, delegates visited an oil palm plantation and mill complex on 6 October, gaining first-hand insights into Malaysia’s palm oil industry, including its production practices, sustainability initiatives and industry capabilities.
The programme followed the successful MPOF KL 2026 conference on 7 October, which attracted more than 650 industry participants and received sponsorship support from 34 Malaysian companies, reflecting strong industry support for MPOC’s flagship international forum.
Held under the theme “Sustainable Growth in an Era of Geopolitical Realignment,” the Forum featured discussions on global trade, sustainability, emerging demand centres and the outlook for the oils and fats industry.
Together, MPOF KL, TNV and BizMatch reflect MPOC’s continued efforts to strengthen international trade engagement and expand market opportunities for Malaysian palm oil and palm-based products.
