One of the major outcomes following the Joint Ministerial Mission by Malaysia and Indonesia to Brussels on 30-31 May 2023, as well as the follow-up visit of the EU Commission to Malaysia and Indonesia on 26-28 June, was the agreement between Malaysia, Indonesia and the EU to establish an Ad Hoc Joint Task Force (JTF) on the EUDR, to facilitate the implementation process and help address constraints and limitations of producing countries. The JTF’s first meeting (Kick-off Meeting) was subsequently held at Pullman Hotel, Jakarta, Indonesia on 4 August. The Malaysian delegation was headed by KPK Secretary General Dato’ Mad Zaidi Mohd Karli, with delegates from the Ministry, MPOB and MPOC. The Indonesian delegation was led by Dr Musdhalifah Machmud, Deputy Minister for Food and Agribusiness, Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs (CMEA), the Republic of Indonesia, while the EU delegation was led by Dr Astrid Schomaker, Director for Green Diplomacy and Multilateralism, EU Commission. This meeting was hosted by Indonesia and facilitated by the Council of Palm Oil Producing Countries (CPOPC).
The Malaysian delegation was headed by Dato’ Mad Zaidi bin Mohd Karli, Secretary General, Ministry of Plantation and Commodities Malaysia, Indonesian delegation was led by Dr. Musdhalifah Machmud, Deputy Minister for Food and Agribusiness, Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs (CMEA), the Republic of Indonesia, while the European Union delegation was led by Ms. Astrid Schomaker, Director for Green Diplomacy and Multilateralism, European Commission (EC).
